  1. Default Las Vegas to San Francisco

    Hi everyone!

First timer here hoping to get some advice on a road trip from Las Vegas to San Francisco in June.

We will be in Los Angeles before Las Vegas, don't know if it would be better to Joshua Tree then or on the way to SF from LV.

Well anyways I would be grateful for any advice.

    Thank you!

What is the time frame for the road trip?

Here is one possible route that I have done several times from Los Angeles to Las Vegas -- but you could divert through Joshua Tree.

And one of my favorite routes from Las Vegas to San Francisco

    Default awesome waterfalls this June

You are in luck for some awesome waterfalls this June. Both Sonora Pass and Ebbets are open and both will have lots of waterfalls.

Sonora Pass is a little easier to drive if you are not skilled with two-lane mountain driving.

    Default What sorts of attractions/roads

Well, this is good news that you could login and actually see your post!

So, six days just from Las Vegas (not including the trip from LA?)

What sorts of attractions/roads are you interested in?

Good chance Tioga Pass will be open through Yosemite. You can get to all 3 passes from Lone Pine and US-395. Sonora is CA-108, Tioga is CA-120, and Ebbetts is CA-4, from US-395 you need to take CA-89 over Monitor Pass to get to it.

Death Valley is also an option to US-395. Shorctut from LV would be NV-160 to just north of Pahrump, then Bell Vista Ave to CA-127, right, then immediate left onto CA-190. Leaving DV on CA-190, to CA-136 to US-395 at Lone Pine.

Default objectives for those six days.

We can still give you more specific recommendations if we knew what would be your top objectives for those six days.

    Default It's about details.

We will be in Los Angeles before Las Vegas, don't know if it would be better to Joshua Tree then or on the way to SF from LV.
It would cut out a lot of time and miles to visit Joshua tree NP between LA and LV. The journey from LV to SF is a fantastic drive and I would opt for heading through Death valley and over Tioga pass into Yosemite NP as suggested by glc. (You will need to check the status of Tioga pass as it is currently still closed while they clear winter snow.)

As Mark mentioned, we can give you more specific info/suggestions if we have more detail. Are your dates from start to finish LA>LV>SF, or purely the travel time to get from LV to SF? This type of info makes a huge difference to what you can realistically achieve.

    Grateful for all the replies.

Yes the dates are for purely travel time from LV to SF.
Top objective is to experience some of the 'must see' sights.
I am a photographer (and school teacher) and will be taking some night shots
at Nelson Ghost town the night before the actual drive to SF.
