Default Kathleen Walls could be in harm's way tonight and tomorow

Kathleen Walls lives near the St. Johns River and that area is under evacuation order tonight from Hurricane Ian.

So keep dry thoughts headed her way.

  2. Default So far so good

I'm as prepared as possible. Hoping for the best. Our power company already said to prepare for outages. I expect a little flooding but I hope not high enough to get in the house. Black Creek is our most likely danger. Last time with Irma it came pretty high but not in the house. I did lose all my refrigerated food. Thanks for thinking of me.

Default There are a bunch of RTA members who could be impacted by this storm

Yes, after I chatted with you via email, I saw that your house is not *yet* in a mandatory evacuation zone, but it's very close to Black Creek and all of Black Creek appears to be in an advisory status.

I will be keeping an eye on the evacuation zones in your area tonight and tomorrow and hope that the storm passes by without much impact.

There are a bunch of RTA members who could be impacted by this storm and we'll use this thread to share information as it becomes available.

PS if you notice that the site seems to running slow tonight--Tom is running an extensive link backtracing program as he works on updating links on the site. At least, I think that's why it is running slow...

My sister is in Orlando in a trailer park. It's a huge seniors complex (400 units) with support.

    George,

Have you heard from your sister? Is she doing OK?

Yes, she texted me a couple hours ago. Her power went out about 10am EDT this morning, no damage, no flooding in her cul-de-sac. She doesn't know about the rest of the complex, she has not gone outside. Her only inconveniences are no A/C and will probably have some spoiled food by the time the power is back on. She has a butane camp stove and a bunch of canned food, also 6 months of survival rations, she is a very small scale prepper. She doesn't have a car but she has a golf cart safe in her shed to get around the complex, it has new batteries and they are fully charged. She also has a couple small solar battery banks to keep her phone charged.
