The rest of the segments are so short that I may not do them unless I have time, and then may include them in a "shorter interstates" post.

Public Campgrounds along I-39, south to north. Though I-39 continues north as US-71 in WI, this will not be mapped. Unless otherwise noted, all campgrounds within 20 miles of the interstate, one way. Other campgrounds may exist; this list is not complete.

    IL:

Marshall State Fish and Wildlife, Lacon
Note: This is about 27 miles from the interstate.
    Starved Rock State Park, Ottawa
Note: One of my family's favorites!
    Illini State Park, Marseilles
    Shabbona Lake State Park, Shabbona
    Lowden State Park, Oregon
Rock Cut State Park, Loves Park

    WI:

    Devil's Lake State Park, Barraboo
Mirror Lake State Park, Wisconsin Dells area
Rocky Arbor State Park, Wisconsin Dells area
    Hartman Creek State Park, Waupaca
    Rib Mountain State Park, Wausau
    Council Grounds State Park, Merrill

    And the beat goes on...

Two Split Interstates, I-86 and I-88.

Public Campgrounds along I-86. There are two sections of this interstate. One is in Idaho, the other is in New York. Unless otherwise noted, all campgrounds are within 20 miles of the interstate, one way. Some campgrounds may be more obscure and therefore, not listed.

    ID:

    Lake Walcott State Park

    NY:

Allegany State Park, Red House Campground, Cain Hollow CG, Salamanca
    Quaker Run Campground
    Newtown Battlefield, Elmira
    Oquaga Creek State Park
    Beaverkill Campground (Catskill Park)
Note: As of 2019, out-of-state visitors have an added $5 surcharge to the camping fee, per night.

Public Campgrounds along I-88, west to east. Located only in Illinois and New York. Unless otherwise noted, all campgrounds are within 20 miles one way of the freeway. Note that some campgrounds are only locally known.

    IL:

    Prophetstown State Recreation Area, Prophetstown
White Pines Forest State Park, Mt Morris
    Lowden State Park, Oregon
    Shabbona Lake State Park, Shabbona

    NY:

Chenango Valley State Park, Chenango Valley
    Oquaga Creek State Park, Bainbridge
    Gilbert Lake State Park, Laurens
Max V. Shaul State Park, Fultonham
Thompson's Lake CG, Thacher State Park, East Byrne

........we have a LOT of long interstates in this country, and some of them seem to have no rhyme or reason to how they got named, though for the most part they follow the designated guidelines....and then we have really short ones.

Public Campgrounds along I-93 in the Northeast, south to north. Unless otherwise noted, all campsites are within 20 miles of the interstate, one way. Some campsites may be left out because of obscurity; inquire locally.

    MA:

    Wompatuck State Park, Hingham
Harold Parker State Park, North Andover

    NH:
Note: Part is a toll road.

    Pawtuckaway State Park, Nottingham

Finishing this up will be listings of a few shorter interstates -- the ones that have possibilities for camping, that is. If an interstate is only 50 miles or less, it probably isn't included. This post will include shorter interstates in the Eastern portion of the US.

Public Campgrounds along the shorter interstates: I-68 (MD), I-89 (VT), I-78 (PA to NJ) and I-83(MD/PA). Unless otherwise noted, all campgrounds are within 20 miles of the interstate, one way. Some campgrounds may exist that are not listed, inquire locally.

    I-68: WV/MD:

Coopers Rock State Forest, Bruceton Mills, WV
New Germany State Park, Grantsville, MD
    Rocky Gap State Park, MD

    I-89: VT:

    Quechee State Park, Hartford
    Silver Lake State Park, Barnard
    Gifford Woods State Park, Killington
Note: About 25 miles from the interstate.
    New Discovery State Park, Marshfield
    Little River State Park, Waterbury
    Smugglers Notch State Park, Stowe
Note: Many of the sites at this park are walk-in and not accessible by vehicle.
Grand Isle State Park, Grand Isle
Lake Carni State Park, Enosburg Falls

    I-78:

    PA:

    Tuscarora State Park, Barnesville
Note: About 25 miles one way.

    NJ:

Spruce Run State Recreation Area, Hampton
    Voorhees State Park, Clinton

    I-83:PA

    Codorus State Park, Hanover
    Gifford Pinchot State Park, Rossville

Still to come, short interstates in the midwest (I-43, I-96, I-69 in KY) and in the west (I-82). Then we're done.

And now, for the Midwest shorter interstates....

Public Campgrounds along I-43, south to north, Wisconsin only. Unless otherwise noted, all campgrounds are within 20 miles of the freeway, one way. This list is not complete; other campgrounds may exist.

    WI:

    Kettle Moraine North Unit, Dundee
    Kohler-Andrae State Park, Oostburg
    Point Beach State Park, Mishicot

Public Campgrounds along I-69, KY portion, south to north. Unless otherwise noted, all campgrounds are within 20 miles of the interstate, one way. This list is probably not complete, as some campgrounds are more obscure.

    KY:
Note: Much of this is either signed as a parkway, or a prospective I-69, through KY.

Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park
Lake Barkley State Resort Park , Cadiz
Note: About 32 miles from the interstate, one way.
Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park, Dawson Springs
    Lake Malone State Park, Dunmor
    Note: About 22 miles.
Nolin Lake State Park, near Mammoth Cave National Park
My Old Kentucky Home State Park, Bardstown
    Kentucky Horse Park Campground
Note: As stated with I-64 listing, reserve if you are going to stay any time when a horse race is to take place!

Public Campgrounds along I-96, located in Michigan, west to east. Unless otherwise noted, all campgrounds within 20 miles of the interstate, one way. Some campgrounds may be more obscure, and therefore are not listed. Inquire locally.

    MI:

    P.J. Hoffmaster State Park, Muskegon
    Muskegon State Park, North Muskegon
Grand Haven State Park, Grand Haven
    Ionia State Recreation Area, Ionia
    Sleepy Hollow State Park, Laingsburg
    Brighton State Recreation Area, Howell
    Pinckney State Recreation Area, Pinckney
    Waterloo State Recreation Area, Chelsea
Island Lake State Recreation Area, Island Lake

Almost done....the Western shorter interstates are next....

Public Campgrounds along the Western shorter interstate: I-82 (WA-OR). Unless otherwise noted, all campgrounds are within 20 miles of the interstate, one way. Some campgrounds may exist that are not listed, inquire locally.

    WA:

    Yakima Sportsman State Park, Yakima
    Brooks Memorial State Park, Goldendale
Note: A whopping 40 miles from the freeway! Included only because of the scarcity of camping along this short freeway.

And ..... that's all, folks! Any additions will be included after this. If you find a campground permanently closed, please say so in this thread.
