  1. Default Traveling from Tampa to Reno in August - Need advice from Vegas to Reno on 95

    Hi there,

I am traveling from Tampa to Reno this summer. I have mapped out all the gas station stops along the way until Las Vegas. Thats where there is a blank spot on my map. I need advice traveling from Vegas to Reno on 95. I am not looking for sites or tourist information I am driving straight thru. I just need to know where gas stations exist along the way. I can't find any on the maps I am using. vegas to reno.jpg

    Welcome to RTA!

    There is gas as follows:

    Amargosa - at 95/373
    Beatty - at 95/374
    Tonopah - 95/6
    Hawthorne - 95/359
    Fallon - 95/50
    Fernley - Alt-50/I-80

If you take Alt-95, there's gas in Yerington and Silver Springs.

Nothing to be concerned about. Tonopah is the halfway point, as long as you can get just over 200 miles out of a tank, that's the only gas you will need.

Google Maps on a computer will show gas stations, I don't know about on a phone. Zoom to an area, Search This Area, click More.

If you have a smartphone, install the Gas Buddy app to find gas.

    Default Straight through ?

Hello and welcome to RTA !

I am not looking for sites or tourist information I am driving straight thru.
Can I ask what you mean by "Straight thru" ? I understand it means no sight seeing, but how much time are you allowing for the trip ? To do the trip safely and without fatigue becoming an issue you really need at least 5 full days averaging about 550 miles per day which will equate to between 9 and 10 hours on the road every day with basic stops. You will need at least 4 Motels for overnight stops. Don't confuse electronic map time estimates with real world conditions. A computer doesn't allow for human 'inconveniences' such as needing food, sleep and getting caught up in construction and congestion delays.

    Safe travels !

    Why???

There are only a couple places anywhere in the country where you'd be more than 100 miles from a gas station, and you won't be going through any of them. Gas stations are not hard to find in the US. As long as you are aware of your surroundings and don't wait until you're nearly out of gas to refuel, there really is no reason at all to be concerned about the availability of fuel - especially not to the point of trying to map every station on a 3000 mile trip. (and if you really were mapping all of them, there would be tens of thousands on your map.
