Texas to Las Vegas - Trip advice

Headed to Las Vegas for a reunion with some friends planning to drive from Plano, Texas to Las Vegas with an overnight rest/sleep in Albuquerque, NM. Any route advice and best area in Albuquerque to stop over for the night. Just looking for a safe area to get an inexpensive hotel etc. Thanks for any tips and suggestions.

Also would appreciate any recommended sites to see in the I-40 corridor. Thanks

Plano to LV is over 1200 miles, and is really pushing it for a 2 day trip. I'd really recommend you spend 2 nights - one in Santa Rosa and the other in Kingman. If you must do this in 2 days, I'd recommend you overnight in Moriarty, not ABQ, that's the halfway point.

Santa Rosa, Moriarty, and Kingman all have acceptable hotel selections and are safe areas. The majority of Kingman hotels are at Exit 53 on Old 66. Santa Rosa and Moriarty are small towns.

I assume you will be taking US-287 to I-40 to US-93?

If you aren't willing to spend 3 days, I really can't recommend any I-40 corridor sights, you won't have time to see them.
