  1. Default Salt Lake to Vegas for a Wedding!

    Hi all!

I'm embarking on my... well it's been a long time since I did a road trip, but this one I'm hoping will be very cool!

I'm going from Salt Lake (renting a car) for a friend's Vegas wedding.

I know I want to re-see the golden spike, Flagstaff, and the Hoover Dam. Any other good stops though? I'm down for whatever, but need suggestions.

I have a week total and plan to leave for home from Vegas, so this doesn't have to be a back and forth thing.

    Welcome to RTA!

I'm thinking that you're flying into SLC, renting a car, and you have a full week to get to Las Vegas? It's just a day's drive, so you definitely have time if that week is your travel time.

The Golden Spike is about an hour and 45 minutes from downtown SLC. It's well worth a half day to see.

Utah is just full of places to see. There are 5 national parks, plus some national monuments, if you like nature -- Bryce Canyon National Park, Cedar Breaks National Monument, and Zion are all right along the way.

Flagstaff is a full 4-5 hour drive from Las Vegas, south and east. Doable, but once you start planning, you do need to consider travel time as well as time to actually see whatever you want to. Hoover Dam is right along the way. To me, the draw would be Grand Canyon rather than Flagstaff, but you may have reasons for Flagstaff that you haven't detailed.

More information would help us help you in a more definitive way.

Default Where does the wedding fit in ?

A couple more pieces of info would also be handy. Have you a week in total from door to door or a week to get to Vegas ? Have you already set your dates and if so, when does the wedding fit into the trip ? Are you flying out from Vegas, or is getting home part of the drive ? What I am thinking is that if you arrive for the wedding at the beginning of your week you could do a loop trip to include Hoover Dam, Flagstaff (Grand canyon), Bryce and Zion and back to Vegas, or if the wedding is at the end of the trip you could head direct to Bryce, then Zion through Page to Flagstaff and on to Vegas via Hoover dam.
