West Virginia Drive Through from Outer Banks to Chicago - Where to stop?

We will be driving back from Outter Banks to Chicago via I64 early August on a 29' RV and want to break the trip with a 2 night stay in West Virginia. I'm considering the New River Gorge Area .... We can only make one stop in WV ... where would you recommend we go? We'll be traveling with our sons (16 and 14) and our dog.

West Virginia is, as its state motto suggests, Wild and Wonderful and would make a great place to relax in the outdoors as you take a scenic nature break on your RoadTrip. Besides the New River Gorge National River, though, you might want to also look at the Gauley River National Recreation Area just to the north.
