Default Yosemite and Sequoia NP - best campsites?

We are going to be going through Yosemite and Sequoia NPs at the end of May. We are looking to find good campsites that are inexpensive (around $20/night) and close access to hiking trails and other good attractions.

Also, what's the best way to book a campsite?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

FYI, 5 of us are doing a 3-4 week camping trip around the US.

Thanks for your help,
Alex

Default Yosemite Campgrounds

Hi Alex.

I would suggest staying in Yosemite Valley if you want to be near the waterfalls and some good hiking trails. There are three campsites in the valley and you will need to make reservations as soon as possible to get in. Upper Pines is our favorite, but they are all in pretty much the same area. Lower Pines and North Pines are the other two campgrounds.

The campsites do not have hook ups, but there are bathrooms, tables and campfire rings. Water is available at spikets outside the bathrooms.

Also if you want more information on camping you might try the Open Road Forums.

I've only camped in Sequoia NPs once so I'm not as familar with it. Where else are you going?

Default One guidebook for all

I just reviewed a guide book produced by Lonely Planet and I would highly recommend it. Excellent information about camping in and around Yosemite and good road trip info for Sequoia NP too. Click here for the review.
