  1. Default Boston and back in five days

I'm planning a four to five day road trip with two of my friends next week.

We'll be departing from Boston on March 24th and plan to get back to Boston mid-day 28th.

We'll be staying in Boston for a couple of days after the road trip and then will be heading to New York for about 10 days, so both of these locations will be covered and there's no need to visit them during the road trip.

We'd prefer avoiding wet weather, but don't care too much about temperatures as long as it's dry.

The three of us are 22 years old, and and have a wide variety of interests ranging from hiking to museums. Also we love driving, so a long drive is not a problem as long as we'll enjoy it and will be back in Boston on the fifth day.

Our original plan was to hit the Finger Lakes area, however it seems that the weather won't be on our side and we won't be able to go outside much.

Would love to hear your recommendations for an awesome road trip!

    Thanks,
    Daniel

    Welcome to RTA!

Do you have an atlas or a road map? Whenever my husband and I are faced with this type of (fun) dilemma, we open our handy road atlas and see what looks interesting! With 5 days or so, you can go 500-600 miles in one direction and have a ball, then return.

Default Yep, it's all on maps.

If you like hiking, head northwest into the Adirondack Mountains - NY. Many scenic routes through as well.

Or you might like to head southwest.to the Poconos in eastern PA. Lots of small mountain towns with accommodation all tucked away in the mountains. Each one has its own museum and other attractions. An absolutly wonderful area.

As mentioned above, get out a good atlas or maps of the local area, and see what there is. I can assure you much more than five day's worth.

As for the weather, keep an eye on the weather forecast, and don't head into where the rain is, though I have to mention, some places take on a special ambiance in the rain.
