Spring Break Road Trip TORONTO TO NEW ENGLAND

We are planning a spring break drive from Toronto to New England with our 8 year old twins. Would love to get some feedback on the ideal route to take that would capture the overall essence of New England keeping in mind any great family activities. Look forward to receiving any input....Thanks!!

As I've posted here before, it is difficult to find an UNscenic route in New England. Still, this is a site where people don't believe in a single 'best' or 'ideal' route, only routes and attractions that suit YOU. To start you out, I would suggest that you read these discussions of some of the things that New England has to offer. Once you've picked a subset that appeals to you, we can help with some of the details. I'd also suggest that you at least consider making this a loop trip, heading east on the north side of Lake Ontario and returning through central New York and/or along the southern shore of the Lake through Niagara Falls (or the other way around).
