Arches National Park can take the better part of the day. A bit of advice: bring a picnic lunch into the park with you. There are no cafes or restaurants in the park. The nearest food is in Moab. We learned this the hard way. There are plenty of motels and hotels in Moab, in all budgets. My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Apache Inn, which is not right on the main road on Moab, and was reputed to be the place where the movie stars stayed when they were filming in the area. Another place easily reached from Moab, taking up 2-3 hours, is to drive out to Dead Horse Point State Park. You'll have a lovely view of Canyonlands National Park.I also was wondering about 2 nights around Moab. We have 8 nights our disposal. I have visited the Grand Canyon several times but rest of party haven't so I would like to spend a whole day and don't mind the GC Village but at the moment not sure what day we will arrive so I can investigate booking.
