Where can I get good maps or road atlas? Specifically, is there any kind of map you would recommend?

Everyone has their own favorite map producer, or several for different purposes or places. My own all time favorite went out of business a couple of decades ago and I still miss them (and still refer to the complete set of their maps I ordered when I heard of their impending demise.) But near the top of everyone's list for general North American RoadTripping are the large format Rand McNally atlases. These come in a few different formats but for me the best is the spiral bound (easy to keep open to any page) plastic laminated (practically indestructible) Deluxe Motor Carriers' Road Atlas.

Walmart has the Rand McNally atlases over by the books and magazines. I use the large scale one that's spiral bound.
