I have read about and seen pictures of switch backs like that, which can be seen from the LA to SF train. I don't know where they are, other than that they are in CA. No idea if that is below the 40th parallel.... I don't know where that goes.

I am not aware of any other switch backs in the west, though no doubt there could be many.
