Super Volcano at Yellowstone closes some roads

From the Weather.com site: "...Extreme heat from surrounding thermal areas created a hot spot that melted asphalt on Firehole Lake Drive, a 3.3-mile loop that takes tourists past Great Fountain Geyser, White Dome Geyser and Firehole Lake...."

The latest information I saw, in a CNN report, indicated the road reopened on Saturday - it initially closed last week. Yellowstone's website doesn't mention it being closed right now, although it doesn't specifically say it is open either.

If it is open, it is a great detour. Firestone lake has some amazing color, White Dome Geyer goes off pretty frequently, and Great Fountain Geyser goes off about twice a day - with an estimated time posted at the Old Faithful Visitors Center.

I'm in Yellowstone NOW. At the entrance gates, there were notes about some road construction, and we have seen evidence of it, around Canyon Village and Norris Jct. But nothing was happening. Nothing was mentioned about Firehole Lake Drive being closed, though we saw the same report on Facebook a few days back.
