NYC and around April 2014

Hi all,

In April 2014 we are travelling, together with my wife, to USA for 20 days.

Our flight arrives in NYC and we want to stay there between 5 and 7 days and then start a roadtrip for 15 days coming back to NYC to take our flight back home (Argentina)

I´m open to receive some itinerary recomendations, since I only have some cities in mind like Boston and DC, but I know that there´s much more to enjoy around the north east area!

I haven't done a lot of traveling around the northeast, but there are a few things that come to mind:

Acadia National Park, coastal Maine This is open year round, though some services will be closed. It is perfect "birding" weather, if you're interested.

Niagara Falls, American side/ and Canadian side Less crowds in the spring months, though the Cave of the Winds and Maid of the Mist attractions will be shut down. The falls are still lit up at night, which is beautiful!

Gettysburg, in Pennsylvania One of the biggest of our nation's Civil War battlefields, it's rich in history.

With a full two weeks to explore the northeast and New England from New York, you can cover quite a bit of ground. If you decide to include DC, then what I'd suggest is that you hold off on renting a car until later. See New York by subway, bus, cab and foot, then take AMTRAK down to DC and back to New York. A car is actually more of a liability in those two cities than an asset. Traffic is horrible and parking expensive in both of them.

Once you pick up a car on your return to New York and head out for the north eastern parts of the US, you have a couple of options: through New York State, from New York to New England, and around New England. So have a look at some of those previous discussions. If there are particular interests that you have that seem to be missing from them, just speak up and we'll try to steer you towards venues more to your liking.
