Default Washington DC- Chicago - Yellowstone - Vegas - Hollywood in 16 days

This is the longest road trip I've undertaken yet in that short of a time. I want to see how far you can go during a two-week vacation.
We left D.C. June 29, went to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, and stayed in an Econo Lodge in Ohio. Then on to Chicago, Wisconsin Dells, Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone and beyond.
Here is my son and daughter on the ledge at the Skydeck in Chicago.

    Welcome to the RTA Forum!

That's quite the trip you've got planned. Is this a round trip? If so, how are you finding time to stop at these places, and not be on the road for an unsafe or unreasonable amount of time each day? It looks like you're going to have to drive at least 8 hours every day of your trip just to cover the miles.

The first day or two of a trip, excitement can help power you through, but be careful that you don't have yourselves completely exhausted while trying to make the drive home.

Thanks, Michael. I might stretch it out over longer than two weeks. Not sure if we will get all the way to LA and back. I am pacing myself, going 300 to 400 miles a day. My dad drove trucks for awhile so I guess that's in my genes....

Got back to the DC area last night after 6,950 miles in 16-and-a-half days in a 2001 Honda CRV that now has 172K miles. Only one flat tire, though we witnessed two others, including an 18-wheeler that had a tire explode right next to us, sending pieces of rubber into our path. Saw the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the SkyDeck in Chicago, Wisconsin Dells, the Corn Palace, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, the Great Salt Lake, Zion, Las Vegas, Hollywood, the Grand Canyon, Cadillac Ranch, Gatlinburg and more. Went to the top of the second-tallest building in the US and stayed in the third-tallest. Took in a Dbacks-Dodgers game and toured Wrigley Field. Swam in a waterpark and the Pacific Ocean, hiked in Sedona, Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon and shopped in Beverly Hills. Drove down the same street as Jed in the Beverly Hillbillies and saw homes like the one used by the Brady Bunch. Reunited with friends and family.
Not a bad trip. Not bad at all.

lol did you sleep for a week upon your return? I thought heading from Ohio through the badlands to Yellowstone and back in 14 days was going to be bad. I give you a lot of credit for doing that many miles in that few of days

    Default Slept a day

Thanks, Michael and bbear. I did have to sleep for about a day, then it was back to work. I don't think I will be covering that many miles in that short a time again soon.
