I had to do some digging around, because I've never seen this before. Apparently your camera has a "geotagging" system. It has a built-in GPS and a database of points of interest.

I wouldn't have a clue on how to turn it on and off without having the manual or the camera in my hand.

Thanks for that. It answers a lot of questions, and gives me much more information than you thought it would.

Yes, I know how to turn it on and off. I just like having it on. From what you say, it means that the area I was photographing is programmed in the gps as an 'attraction'. That also means that all other places I have been, are not programmed in the gps. The blurp says something about all the major attractions are programmed in it. But obviously, they are not the attractions which have attracted me.

It may be that the GPS wasn't getting a fix when you were at the other attractions.

For almost six months we travelled the highways and byways of North America, and now the time has come that we part, not with a 'good bye', but simply 'au revoir'! Everything which made her a comfortable little home for me, is still in it. Only those things which I need to take home, clothes and stuff which I did not even use, were sorted into suitcases to take back home.

She is in a large paved lot in Longmont. Wheels on carpet and a solar battery charger in the windscreen. All windows are curtained and everything is out of sight. Hopefully this is how I will find her on my return... whenever that will be.

It has been a far greater experience than I had ever dreamed it could be. Being independent was one thing. But having a van as a 'home' was quite another. This never was intended as an experiment, but more and more the words from page eleven were running through my mind.

Now I am going back to a house full of stuff, and I am not sure I am going to like it. Almost six months and 24841 miles - I am going to miss her.

Onto the train in the morning... bound for California.

I'm glad you travelled so well together and that it was worth all the effort of finding 'her' in the end, what an adventure ! [Bet your missing 'her' already] ;-)

Hope you had a good trip to California, I don't suppose you were on this flight were you ? Nothing would surprise me ;-) Lol

On a side note, Lezli and I popped around to Simon and Louise this evening, as it is their wedding Anniversary, which reminded me that 3 years [tomorrow] has flown by since we met up in Denver ! Gee, where does the time go !!

Thanks for the reminder, Dave. I knew it was around this time, was not sure of the exact date. Three years? Seems like yesterday.

The A380 is a magnificent plane on which to fly. Very quiet, even at take off and landing. Makes up for the fact that it takes half an hour or so, longer than the 747. Slept at least half the trip home.

My week in CA saw me doing some touring, mainly around the Concord area whilst been hosted by another of our colleagues - CalOldBlue - and his family. Then to LAX via Kings Canyon and Sequoia NP. The hilight here was driving the Triangle Road, from 140 to 49, east of Mariposa. (When the lady at the visitor centre in Mariposa saw that she could not dissuade me from driving this road, she went on to tell me how scenic and beautiful the drive is.)

Unfortunately I did not get to meet General Sherman. The walk from the permit parking area is 320 metres, which would make it almost two-thirds km round trip. Early on a Monday morning there were not many people around. I was afraid I would not get back to my car.

The last thing before heading to LAX was a visit to Toastmasters International HQ in Rancho Santa Margarita. Returned the rental car with 1057.8 miles on it, and arrived at LAX more than six hours before the flying kangaroo took off.

Total for the trip is a smidgin short of 26K miles.

Just a jump-in point here.... Megan and I got to see the final flight of the space shuttle aboard the 747 when it flew around the LA area last week. It was magical and the pilots of the 747 had the blessings of the FAA and flew just about everywhere they wanted to go. It was like watching a bird in flight.

And a kudos to Lifey for allowing us to tag along with her on this amazing road trip.
