Seven Day Road Trip - Long Island, Cape Cod, Boston, Bar Harbor, Vermont

Hi everyone, first time road trip starting in Long Island and heading to Cape Cod, then Boston, Bar Harbor Maine, Cheese Trail Vermont and then back to Long Island. We are planning on starting on a Saturday and coming back the following Saturday (7 days). Any recommendations for modest but clean accommodations, attractions, scenic routes, photography locations and ideas etc. Thanks!

There are, of course, a ton of great attractions in New England, so take a look through those previous discussions for some ideas. As to accommodations, I have stayed in a number of Bed & Breakfasts in that area, but as I have previously noted elsewhere, the best of them tend to have a fairly short business lifetime due to the amount of time and effort required to run one well. The places that I would recommend from past experience have all shut their doors. My best bit of advice, then, is to do as my wife does and pick a place based on a decor that suits your tastes. Chances are that you and the owner will have more in common as well.

Thanks glc. I've been to Vermont several times but can't say I've ever seen or heard anything about the Cheese Trail.
