Oklahoma City to Genesee, Co. Need quick reply!

Leaving Oklahoma City on July 5 for Genesee, Co..would like to know if there is a route with some interesting things to see. Any ideas are welcome. Should I go through Kansas or New Mexico, main roads or back roads? Please reply soon!

How many days are you planning on taking to get there? What kinds of things do you want to see?

The direct route from OKC to Batavia goes through neither New Mexico or Kansas, although it comes close to the later. You'd take I-44 to St. Louis, I-70 to Columbus, I-71 to Cleveland, and I-90 to central New York. You're looking at about 2½ days for the driving, so sightseeing would require additional time.

Buck, that's Genesee, COLORADO - which is just west of Denver.

700 miles via I-35/I-135/I-70 (fastest route), which is a bit of a stretch for 1 day, and certainly won't allow for time for sightseeing or diversions, much less getting off the Interstates. To make this enjoyable in any fashion will require 2 or more days.

Sorry, I used to live in central New York, and just read it as Genesee county. It's a minor 'bug' that the title box does not support 'all caps' so that it's clear that it meant the abbreviation for Colorado instead.

You guys are funny! I was wondering how I ended up in New York:) Anyway, it's really hot out so I'm not interested in outdoor parks or activities. I have my parents who are in their 60's and 2 kids ages 11 & 14. Maybe scenic drives or interesting stops that are short. I was thinking we would drive for a day and stop and see whatever, spend the night somewhere and drive to Colorado the next day making stops if there's anything to see. Also, we will be staying in Genesee for about 4 or 5 days with family who will show us around up there. When we leave we will be headed back to Atlanta. Any suggestions for that trip are welcome too. Maybe driving 3 or 4 days.

Ordinarily, there would be a LOT of things I'd recommend in Colorado, but with the wildfires I think I'd stay away from them the best you can. For this particular trip, I'd stick to the route I described rather than chancing I-25 right through the fire area. Unfortunately, there's nothing that I'd consider really noteworthy along I-35/I-135/I-70 till you get west of Denver.

The forest fire near Colorado Springs is 90% contained, so going up I-25 toward Denver shouldn’t be a problem.
