What are you trying to post for a picture, and what steps are you taking to post it?

Actually one of the handiest little camping gadgets we've got is a collapsable sink. I think it was made by Coleman, but its basically just heavy duty plastic in the shape of a double sink with some support beems and handles that folds down basically flat when its not in use.

And a wagon should absolutely be find for camping. With two people, even a sedan can be used quite easily, although some things often have to find their way to the back seat.

    Default A few basics.

If you have never camped or stayed at hostels, a few basics might help. The article referred to is good, although, whenever booking never use a service such as the sponsor of that article. It puts an extra charge onto your booking. Always contact the hostel direct by phone or email. Remember hostels vary greatly. I have stayed in many which are the height of luxury, and others where I would not ever consider using the kitchen or shower. And the most expensive are not always the best, neither are the cheapest the worst. The thing is to check things before committing. Remember that hostels are much, much more than a night's accommodation. Many have discount admittance to local attractions and events. Some run functions for their guests, and have community dinner / BBQs. They may have movies, free breakfasts, coffee and tea all day long, etc. As well, meeting with other travellers and sharing experiences is valuable as well as informative.

Also, be aware that not all hostels have co-ed rooms. And although most have private rooms, once again, not all do. These are all things you need to check. Don't just go by what is on the internet. Make a point of asking.

I would highly recommend that you stay in the HI hostel in Sacramento CA. It is an experience like no other. Arrive early and leave late. Make sure you have time to check out the place, and learn about its history and location.

When choosing a 'cheap' hotel / motel, do the same. Always ask to see the room before committing. Check the bathroom, the bed and the smoke detector. All features which make your stay safe and comfortable. Again, you will find that some are fantastic, and others you'll walk away from.

And make sure, that no matter where you stay, be it hostel, hotel, motel or campground, always wear footwear in the shower! Never stand in a public shower with bare feet.

My take on the 'dish story' above is, go to Goodwill or similar store first. I have saved a fortune equipping myself. When I decided recently that I wanted an extra pillow, I went to Goodwill. And sure enough, in the third city where I looked (it's the first place I go on arrival in any place), I picked up a brand new one for $3. Then there are places such as the Dollar stores - there are several chains of these - where you can pick up lots of supplies for very little. Only if you can't get it there, approach department stores.

Travelling on a budget? Just ask me. I've been doing it for decades.
