    Default Success!

    Congrats on your acquisition, Lifey.

That's a LOT nicer than the unit here in Raleigh.

    Safe travels and have fun.

Not just nicer looking, but in such great condition. The salesman told me that being Toyota dealers, they do not often keep old vehicles from other manufacturers in their 'used' vehicles inventory. But because this was in such good condition when it was traded, they decided not to pass it onto wholesalers.

The vehicle was checked out at the nearby Ford dealership. The mechanic who did the job commented that he had never seen a 13 year old vehicle in such immaculate condition. He was really impressed. The original owner put fewer than 5000 miles on it, each year.

It's going to get a real shock with me probably adding around 20000, in a mere six months.

Thanks for the pics Dave. I was unable to capture any from that website.

Now for a fridge. If anyone knows where I can purchase a new WAECO CDF35 car fridge, I would love to hear. (My big problem here is that this unit is also sold locally - I have one in my car - and hence, when I try to research it in the US, the internet always defaults to local sites. I seem not to be able to access relevant North American sites.)

The vehicle is just north of Philidelphia. When I pick it up, at the end of March, I will drive to Boston. After my time there, I will drive to St Paul MN, via Detroit (business) and Chicago (friends). Anywhere in those areas or along the route would be really great. I am happy to make a reasonable detour to another location, if necessary.

    Certainly!

I'd suggest you have your family in Boston order it, shipping will be free.

    Default Free shipping??

Thanks for that. I'd prefer to buy one in person, rather than getting it shipped. Is there no outlet up the north and east at all?

Might be free shipping.... but it is over a $100 more than other ones I have been shown... in the lower 48. Just that they were further south and west.

    Default Done!!

Had to make a decision.... and did!

Fridge should be waiting for me in Boston. Will worry about who will mount it later, that is not urgent. But have ordered the mounting kit. I don't really want it to come join me in the driver's seat should I need to brake really hard, or come to an unscheduled stop against an immovable object. It's heavy, it could do me some damage.

Guess now I am all set. Still hard to believe I actually made it.

    Default Philadelphia International Airport

Does anyone know if PHL is open round the clock? Can't seem to work out where to find this info on the internet.

I will arrive there at 00:30 and the train from the PHL terminal to Doylestown departs about 06:30. I'm really just wondering if there is going to be anywhere where I can get a bite to eat and a drink, or whether I have to go find that outside the airport, somewhere.

(MEL shuts down after the last plane clears, and does not re-open till two hours before the first flight in the morning.)

    Default From a search...

It would seem that nothing opens until about 5AM [4.45AM earliest]. There is a link here and here.

Hopefully someone can confirm otherwise !!

    Default You're a marvel!

    Thanks Dave,

I'm not even gonna ask how you found those pages... nor try to figure out why I could not find them. One of them had a 'concierge' link on it, so I sent my question to them. And to make sure I get a relevant response, mentioned the details of the trip and me.

I'll let you know what suggestions they have for a septuagenarian grandmother with two full size suitcases, a computer and a small backpack. Phew!! I can't imagine having to take them too far.

I'm not sure this would be your thing, but I know your schedule is quite hectic. Could be an option to relax a little, perhaps with some food and refreshment bought from the airport you arrive in the country to ? The hassel of getting in and out of the airport, where to store your bags and Taxi fares to nearby Food joints might make this a good option.

    Link here.

The nearest 24 hour food joints from the airport [from what I can make out] are along the Industrial Highway west of the airport.

Edit] Just checked my Mail. Great minds think alike !! lol
