  1. Default lake huron circle tour

Hi and greetings from the UK. My wife and I are planning to do the lake Huron circle tour in summer 2012 over a couple of weeks. Has anyone any news or views? We did the lake Michigan circle tour a couple of years ago and enjoyed it. Having an initial look at the map there doesn't seem to be quite as much to see around Lake Huron.

    Default still quite alot

I think you'll actually be quite surprised about how much you'll find while doing this trip.

The one area I would really focus your attention is the Georgian Bay area around Sudbury Ontario. This is one park in the area I really enjoyed too, but there is a lot more to see and do.

Also, the Sault Ste Marie area has quite a lot to check out, which you might not have included in your Lake Michigan trip.

Keep in mind that travelinig in Canada will be quite a bit more expensive than in the US. The strong Canadian Dollar is the biggest issue right now (US$1 = CAN$1 these days, where just a few years ago $US1 = CAN$1.5), but they also have higher taxes and a general higher cost of living that will show up in several areas, especially gasoline.

    Default Different is Not Less

Certainly, a circuit of Lake Huron will be considerably different in tone and activities than that you made of Lake Michigan, but I really wouldn't say that there's not "as much to see" there. The major draw of the Canadian portion of this loop is, indeed, it's pristine isolated quality preserved in provincial parks such as Killarney, Sturgeon Bay, Killbear, The Massasauga, Six Mile Lake, Awenda, Wasaga Beach, Craigleith, Sauble Falls, MacGregor Point, Inverhuron, Point Farms, and Pinery, as well as the national parks: Bruce Peninsula, and Fathom Five.

Then there are the historic sites: Fort St. Joseph, Bethune Memorial House, Sainte Marie among the Iroquois, Huron County Museums, and Uncle Tom's Cabin.

And on the American side: Lakeport, Port Crescent, Tawas Point, and Cheboygan State Parks; Thunder Bay National Preserve; Colonial Michilimackinac, and the Soo Locks.
