One thing that should be pointed out here is that the Amish are not a tourist attraction. They are neither a museum nor are they costumed re-enactors. Visitors should at all times respect the life choices that the Amish have made. As someone who used to live in that area, I will simply suggest that tourists not be obvious in taking pictures of these 'quaint' people, nor make them endure questions about their faith unless you are seriously planning to adopt it and live by its precepts. Simply put, be as respectful of them and their wishes as you would want others to be of you and yours.
