Hello shanners72,
The state Departments of Transportation out West maintain extensive arrays of webcams on essentially all major highways with a particular focus on high passes in order to monitor conditions in winter. I happen to recall Wyoming's is "wyoroads dot com" and each state typically links their contiguous neighbor to their own webcam pages. Those same DOT websites where the pages can be found also typically host their road construction/road closure listings and maps. In my experience, they're updated regularly and therefore offer good real-time intel.
Most states also have "511" phone lines with recorded info which offers a verbal version of the construction/closures map data.

We've put a link to most of the road conditions sites on this page.
And this is an older page, but the information is still helpful.
Each of the national park web sites maintain their own road conditions reports -- So, for Yosemite, it would be this page.

The SafeTravelUSA site has links to conditions in every state.
If you click on some of the Meridan 511 state maps, and drill down to a specific section of highway, the current state highway information and weather information is available.
That's a great use of this technology!
Unfortunately, there's still no standard for how this is to be presented -- but the information is still interesting in the depth of data provided.
