I think he was making a joke....
With 2 to 4 more FEET of snow forecast above 6000 feet, there's no way they will try to get any of the passes open again this year except the ones maintained year-round.
SoCal is even getting it - chains required to get to Big Bear.
Still no news on the NPS site. Unsurprisingly the pass is still closed, but a great shot from the Sentinel dome Web cam.
That's a lot of snow !

But look quickly. It appears this is posted as a live link to the webcam, so the view you get will depend on when you view this page.
Anybody know if we'd run afoul of copyright issues if we downloaded a point-in-time image to preserve for posterity?
The Tioga has been declared closed for the season, the date being November 19.
It was declared closed on that day by Caltrans sometime between noon and 4pm when I checked the site for updates.
My prediction of Nov 16 @ 4pm was closest, [some 72 hours out] pipping Mark by around 16 hours.
[Feel free to check, I have been known to goof in the past ! ]
Sounds like another DCTPP is in order...

Just thought I'd add - Ebbetts and Sonora passes are also officially closed for the winter now.
I-80 and US-50 are now fully open with no chain restrictions, but chains are still needed for Carson Pass.
Winter snows may be blanketing the Yosemite National Park high country, but we all know that Spring is still going to come... eventually.
So, now is the time to get your crystal ball or whatever other mystical devices you use for predictive behavior and make your best prognostication guess in the 11th running of this "contest". Click here for more details....
