The last two years put a damper on my road trips, but for this year's spring break (mid-April), we're going to head from Seattle to Reno. AAA and Google seem to agree that the best route is I-5 from Seattle to Eugene, OR-58-US-97, US-97-CA-139, and CA-139 S and US-395 to Reno.

I had planned to overnight in Eugene (about 4.5-5 hours from Seattle) and make day 2 of driving the longer day, but I'm wondering if I should flip that. We'll stay 4 nights in Reno to sightsee, then drive back -- perhaps on another route for a change of pace (we like visiting Pendleton, OR)

We'll have two drivers, but since I get extremely motion sick, once I stop driving and become a passenger, I have to take meds which make me a little sleepy. Along for the ride is our 9 year old son.

Vehicle is 2007 Toyota 4Runner, 4WD, and we have chains on board all the time.

Any tips on this trip, and the routing are welcome!
