Using Waypoints to Make Custom Maps

How do I save a change? Here's what I'm doing:
1. click map in my maps
2. make changes
3. give map the same name, which results in 2nd map with same name.
4. delete outdated map

Here's how I add a waypoint:
Click map in my maps
re-add all data including start and end address and all waypoints (plus new ones) in order needed
calculate
Save map
delete old map

Am I doing this the most efficient way?
