    Default Great info

Well, I enjoyed that little SF interlude.

Back on the forum -- I've managed to break all of our mapping code and if you've looked around you may well see busted pages.

I can get the mapping code to work perfectly on our development site -- but it keeps breaking on the main forum and so I have to go back and pound my head a while....

Default Good luck with the site.

Anyway; for others or if/when you get back to the remaining open item....

Anclote Key is too far north, light in question is south of 28, north of 25.

In looking at the stats for Anclote and the construction, this light could be a sister... very similar construction, height and dates (within 10 years).

Other than that I haven't found any firm tie between the two.

Other key clues: beach. The beaches are part of the draw to this location, for a very particular reason.

Adding the shot back in as we've gone to a new page:

P.S. Looks like my 10 days off came right in the middle of a major site uplift; nice job and sorry I missed most of the 'fun'.

I do believe that's the Sanibel Island lighthouse.

Default I do believe you are correct

Sanibel Island, a barrier island off the coast of Ft. Myers, in the Gulf of Mexico. Along with its sister island to the north, Captiva, is a sheller's paradise.

Due to prevailing currents and wind, and the configuration of the sea bottom, thousands of shells wash up on the beaches in this area with every tide.

Here's a look at one particularly shell-stocked portion of the beach:

    Default Wow, that's cool!

And Don, thanks for the nice geo-puzzles -- You and Twilight have outdone yourselves! Now, we need more...

Default Here's one that skirts the rules....

One of these locations is appropriate for this thread, the other is not. Identify the one that is, and where it is. For extra credit, tell me why the other location isn't kosher (for this game).

    Default #2 is Offshore

I think #2 is either in Saudi Arabia or Kuait...

Default I thought I'd toss in an "easy" one

    Don,

I don't even know where to start on your two geo-puzzles... So, for a easier one...(for an interlude)...

Where is this? When was it built?

    Default Partial credit

Yep; you've identified the one that isn't in North America. Specifically, this is a mosque adjacent to the Khan al-Khalili marketplace in Islamic Cairo. Here's the spice store across the street:

This shot was taken by only rotating my body to the right and pointing down... it literally is right across the street.

Now: back to the rest of the puzzle. The first shot was taken inside a famous tourist attraction. If I were to rotate to the left, I would be able to take a picture of another shop (but not a spice shop).

    Default In Florida, per chance?

Would photo #1 be located in an amusement park and be associated with Disney?
