The 405 Interstate is looking pretty much like a parking lot!
Did you know that a wildfire threatened the museum last month -- they had to evacuate all of the staff and all of the guests!

Based on my trip records and the metadata in the shot, you're looking at a shot taken 2/16/08 (Saturday) in the late afternoon; so not a commute period.
Wouldn't surprise me that they have fire issues; here's a shot taken looking uphill towards the Skirball; lots of flammable hillside around this place.

Evacuation must have been a zoo; the parking lot is downhill, so they either had to wait for the trams (slow) or walk back down a fairly narrow path, or perhaps they allowed folk to walk down the service road?

I haven't spoken to my colleagues in the LAFD who managed it -- but apparently the fire made a concerted run in late afternoon and there was a very real concern that the grounds would be over-run, so somehow they managed to evacuate everyone in "record time." But I agree, that would've presented some monumental logistical challenges....
