Name the Rock Art?

Some clues, that should help narrow down the location by providing some context. These three photos, including the petroglyph panel, were taken one after another during the space of a single minute. (I've included the time stamps):

You have me stumped! I'm pretty sure I haven't been to this pictograph because I think I would have remembered it.

I will say it looks like a big white snake and a black, yellow and white warriors and/or shamans.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that you HAVE seen this pictograph, so I'll toss out a few more clues:


When I took these pictures, this is where I parked:



This is a different pictograph from the same rock face (A very unusual Kokopelli!):



And this is that same pictograph, a wider shot of the spot where it's located:



As for the meaning of the scene, you're correct about the warriors and the shaman, but are you sure about that big white snake? Take another look at the blow-up view:



Now! Can somebody tell me the name of this rock art panel? Or at the very least tell me where I am?

Ok...you were being sneaky and doubling back on a location that had been visited. So in my defense I haven't been to Canyon de Chelly since 2001. I didn't have a picture of these but back then it was a 35mm so I didn't take all that I saw, but I'm still not sure I've seen this one. Remember when we did our tour we only went half way down each canyon. I do have a picture of a reclined kokopelli.

I still had a hard time finding where you were but you know what I found first was what the poster called "a line of turkeys" which is to the right on the third picture you posted. https://peripateticbone.files.wordpr...408.jpeg?w=540 LOL Then I got my location of Canyon de Chelly. I can not find the name of the panel or its location in the park.

I though I saw a head on the zagged line but I didn't have a close up picture. If it's not a snake then it's water/river.

Ha! And I wasn't even trying to be sneaky! The pictograph is in Canyon del Muerto, not far from First Ruin. This is what my Navajo friend had to say about it:



"This is called the Lightning Rock, and sometimes it's called the Zig-Zag Wall. It's actually a very sacred place. When you look at this, there's a man holding a staff; out of the staff there's this energy that's coming out. The figure in black is the patient. The one in yellow is the shaman. The important men of the village are up on the side here, so this was a very sacred ceremony that they were doing. And there are some other drawings on the side; this one here is like a figure of the holy people, because it's way up there, and it only has the head, and not the arms or the legs. You see a lot of people drawn, and there's a bird there. And these are drawings of, like, clan systems. The bear, the turtle, and the antelope down here..."

Since I haven't been able to find a better interpretation of this petroglyph, I'll take this one as being good enough for me!

Very interesting! We didn’t make it past the first ruins so we didn’t make it here. It will something to look forward to seeing.

I've neglected my thread for to long so I'm BACK!

We found these pictographs in 2018 and have been back a second time. There is no hiking involved but they recommend a high clearance vehicle for the last part of the dirt road.

And there are a lot of other pictographs and some petroglphys in the immediate area


This is the location of the Rock Art...it's just a short path from the parking area


My clue is we have did this Rock Art and this "Where Am I" on the same day.

What is the name of this Rock Art?

Well, based on the style of the pictographs, this is Ute, so you're somewhere in Utah, but since I haven't figured out your "Where am I," I've got no clue that might help me narrow it down any further.
