2 relatively long driving days will be more than worth it. Even with just 2 days at Yellowstone, you'll just barely have time to make it to the high points of this huge and amazing National Park. Your original thought of rushing through Yellowstone in one day to visit Lassen NP would really have been counter productive - as many of Lassen's most popular features can be seen on a much grander scale at Yellowstone.

I do feel compelled to add that I've really never understood the idea of sticking to a plan because of reservations - especially when a trip is still several months away. Reservations can be changed (and if you made reservations that can't be changed with several months notice, then I'd strongly suggest you rethink your planning approach for next time). Certainly, you're not the only person to tell us they don't want to make changes because of reservations, I just don't understand the approach that "this is how it was planned so this is how it has to be." My vacation time is very valuable, so if there is a way I can improve my trip, I want to take advantage of it! That's not saying you're doing anything wrong, it's just completely different than how I go into planning a trip.
