D.C. to Houston (through the South)

My brother and I are taking a 1-week road trip to go from D.C. to Houston, while going through the South. Any suggestions of good things to do or how to go (like I saw the article on the South of the Border place at the NC/SC border- that looks cool)? We want to get a feel for the south, have some good BBQ, etc.

When u get to houston, go to galveston or minute maid park, (astros play there). Also, Kemah, TX has good resteraunts and nice views. and also, Katy Mills Mall- an all outlet store mall.

yes...definitely goto galveston. It's about 45 miles south of downtown houston on I-45. Lots of fun shops and all sorts of goodies there. I had family in Kemah and i'd also highly reccomend that area, they've got a real nice boardwalk there. Just make sure you don't mess with Texas.
