    Default Southern Calfornia Wind event (January 2025)

    I am monitoring a number of wildfires that kicked off this morning.

    This one is near Pulga Creek in the Malibu Hills:


    Palisades Fire

    At least five different Fire Helicopters from LAFD working to keep the fire out of the Palisades neighborhoods.



    will be in the homes in five minutes



    Lot of heat and fire is aligned with the wind.


    11:15 PST Radio traffic indicates -- heavy fire protection efforts in the residential area now

    The super scoopers from Quebec are lining up to drop on the fire

    Air Attack is reporting about 100 acres at this point.

    On the adjacent ridge is LAD Heliobase with two helicopters spooling up


    Helitack is beginning to fill both helicopters with water


    11:15 -- Fire is pushing all the way to Sunset -- going to evacuate the Getty Villa

    Radio Traffic is reporting that fire has reached the northern side of the Getty Villa.

    Strike Teams are now staging at Tujunga Canyon in case this pushes that way.

    Coastal areas have active fire.

    Air Attack has reported that the C-130's from Sacramento have taken off and are on the way.

    A DC-9 is circling the fire currently.
    2:01 pm Air Attack has requested air tankers from Hemet and Ramona to respond.

    A Ventura Patrol Rig is now monitoring the Temescal Trailhead area

    Default Horrible situation.

    Wind and fire, a catastrophic mix! It would be a good time for the drought to end and bring some much needed rain to the area. I hope they can contain it to save homes and lives.

    Fire has jumped Topanga Canyon Blvd

    Multiple request from civilians for evacuation

    Used heavy equipment to clear roadways full of abandoned vehicles at Sunset and Pallisades Blvd.

    Going to be a long night.

    6:19 pm

    Resources are moving to the Big Rock community of Malibu for protection of houses. What a sheeeit of a night.

    This is the eastern flank.
