It is raining in Las Vegas and snowing in our local mountains today.

More evidence of the human mole at work:

Default A Humdinger on it's way!

The latest storm looks as though it means business! It's rolling in on Thursday and looks to be causing chaos right through the weekend!

Blizzard warning from the Weather service!

...BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THURSDAY TO 10 AM
    PST SUNDAY...

    * WHAT...Dangerous to impossible travel from blizzard conditions
Friday into Saturday morning. Snow accumulations 4 to 8 feet
above 6000 feet. Total snow 2 to 4 feet from 5000 feet to 6000
feet. Snowfall 1 to 3 feet from 4000 feet to 5000 feet. Total
snow accumulations 1 to 2 feet above 2500 feet. Winds may gust
as high as 65 mph on exposed ridgetops and along the crest.

    * WHERE...Yosemite NP outside of the valley, Upper San Joaquin
River, Kaiser to Rodgers Ridge and Kings Canyon NP.

    * WHEN...Winter storm from 4 PM Thursday to 10 AM PST Sunday,
with blizzard conditions expected Friday into Saturday.

    * IMPACTS...Travel will be extremely difficult and dangerous to
impossible. Widespread blowing snow can reduce visibility to
near zero with whiteout conditions. Strong winds and heavy
snow load could cause tree damage and power outages. Wind
chills as low as 15 to 20 below zero can be expected.

    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must
travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded,
    stay with your vehicle.
    Stay safe!

Default Leap Day Storm of 2024!

    The calm before the storm

Parts of the Sierra's are projected to see more than 10 feet of new snow!

Even a 6-foot dump of new snow would create a legitimate "HUMP" here.

    Default Strange image.

Yeah that image is blurry! Could it possibly be condensation in the lens, or the focus point on the growth of the hump? The weather looks more settled this coming week with only a small amount of snow predicted around Weds. March usually means the snow surveys get underway so we may get some indication of snowfall amounts soon.
