It is incredibly dry in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. After this week, nearly all ground snow is gone, and if there is no significant precip going into spring, winter-stressed dog-hair-thick balsam fir trees will be free-standing kindling for any new starts. The conditions that made Canada so busy last year is setting up in the Northwoods...Half the Boundary Waters will likely be burning in May, and Hotshot crews will be canoeing over beaver dams to set up pump shows in the wilderness as scoopers buzz them overhead.
