N.W. U.S. this May
Hi guys, We’re up in Washington State for another week. From here we thought we’d head out from Seattle and visit the, “must sees’ and the “watch out fors,” in the area. Then, we think we’ll head down to the Oregon coast, then into Montana. I’d love your recommendations.
I’d recommend The San Juan Islands off the coast of WA.
Look down the road,
Michael

Must(?) See Places
I love the Ppacific Northwest, but what I have appreciated most about it is that other than perhaps Olympic National Park (which does have a section along the coast), there are no 'Must See' sights. There are just scenic beaches and woods and mountains practically everywhere. So as you head down the coast from Washington and into Oregon, make ample use of the ocean-front state parks in Washington (11 of them) and Oregon (15 north of Lincoln City). My other recommendation would be that as you head inland use WA-14 on the north side of the Columbia River rather than I-84 in the Oregon side of the river. You can rejoin I-84 around Hermiston OR. Then as you head up along the Snake River towards Wyoming, be sure to spend some time in the Thousand Springs area.

I too would recommend Olympic NP. Hurricane ridge offers spectacular views and Ruby beach and Hoh rain forest are great stops. Mt Rainier is another lovely NP, but then again all NP's are. Just take your time heading down the coast as there are many great views and beaches along the way. Depending on where you start to head inland you could visit Crater lake NP or drive along the historic Columbia river gorge out of Portland.
Have fun !

Thank you, AZ. I’ll get my trucker’s road atlas out and plan a route thru ONP and down the coast. Happy Trails, Michael

Thanks Dave, Those stops look great. I’m going to include a bunch of them in my route plan.
