    hi there,

when are you travelling, myself and 3 friends are driving NY to LA in sept,
we've been looking at lots of places around La and Vegas.

Hoover Dam, and Grand Canyon are obvious ones, and quite near Vegas.
lake Havasu city loosk interesting, with that bridge that was dismantled in London spanning the thames. and shipped away and rebuilt in Arizona. Death Valley National park might be worth a look.

which channel R ya fliming for? Whos the presenter? Im nosey sorry!

    cheers

its a pilot show, so dont know which channel it will be on yet.

7 days? Lots of stops.. hmmm.. August will be hot! There are are lots of seasonal activities going on, which you might go to, besides the list here. Most of those though, are in the cooler months. (Sailing the dry lakes, amateur, rocket launches on Lucerne Dry Lake, 4 wheeling meets and expeditions through the desert mountains, etc.)

    - Mission Inn in Riverside, CA
    - ZZyzx, near Baker CA (interesting history)
    - Mojave National Preserve
    - Kelso
    - Kelso Dunes
    - Mitchell Caverns
    - Old Route 66 through Amboy
    - Trilobyte fossil beds near Cadiz
    - Amboy Crater
    - "Baghdad Cafe" on old Route 66
    - White Mountains/ Red Rock Canyon near Vegas
    - Death valley -- Scottie's Castle, Racetrack, Badwater, Artist's Palette, Zambriskie Point, Furnance Creek
    - Joshua Tree National Park
    - Samuelson's Rocks in Joshua Tree National Park
    - Indian Intaligos about 10 miles north of Blythe, CA
    - China Ranch near Tecopa California

You've already gotten Hoover dam, and Lake Havasu as suggestions. Lake Mead has some interesting places and the folks who do houseboating there.

Hi Joinseph and welcome to the RTA forum!

In addition to Larrison and Duncman's excellent suggestions, you could drive the Extraterrestrial Highway and stop by Area 51 in Nevada. Valley of Fire SP is a neat place to explore and is located just outside Las Vegas. Check out the Queen Mary Vessel-Hotel in Long Beach and the Walk of Fame in Hollywood. For fun beaches, head to the famous Muscle Beach and to Venice Beach's Ocean Front Walk to meet all kinds of people.

Have a great trip and put lots of sunscreen!:o)
