Many years ago, promoters of tourism in California's giant redwood forests came up with the idea of carving out an opening in the trunks of certain gigantic trees so that motorists could have the experience of driving through them. Although this practice has been halted, a few drive-through trees are still open for business, including this one.

      If you go:
Also on the property are a 'drive-over log' (a fallen tree that you can drive your vehicle onto), a walk-through stump and two-story log playhouse for children, and of course a gift shop with many items fashioned from redwood.

Also to be found in Myers Flat is the Knight's Restaurant. A remarkably great place to enjoy a steak meal in the heart of the redwood country. The decor is mid-1960's and the food is equally a throw-back...(in a good way).
