This charming bronze sculpture is a tribute to the duck family that starred in the 1941 children's classic of the same name by Robert McCloskey. The story tells of the family's journey as they make their way across Boston to a new home in the city's Public Garden. The statue, by Nancy Schon, features Mrs Duck and her 8 ducklings. It was installed in 1987 and is said to never need cleaning due to the number of children who sit on the ducks.

      If you go:
The nearby pond, home to real ducks, is the centrepiece of the 24 acre Boston Public Garden, the first public botanical garden in America. As well as formal gardens and more than 40 types of tree, the garden is also home to numerous memorials and statues.
