• Skaket Beach - Orleans, Massachusetts

One of Cape Cod's most popular beaches, Skaket is especially suitable for family outings. The beach itself is small, yet there is plenty of room in the water thanks to the beach's extensive, gently sloped sand bar that allows bathers of all ages to wade hundreds of yards from shore without getting into water that is deep, cold or turbulent. There are also bathrooms with changing areas and a refreshment stand on site. Lifeguards are on duty.

      If you go:
The parking lot is small and gets very crowded during peak times. It's best to go when the beach is not so busy. Arrive after 4:30 p.m. to avoid paying the 20 dollar parking charge, and waiting in line to get in. Another good option is to arrive by bicycle, as the beach is only about a mile from Cape Cod Rail Trail.
