Normally, touring a cave means doing some walking and perhaps even some climbing. But Fantastic Caverns is one cave you actually can ride through, on a tram pulled by a Jeep. The cave also has a historical distinction in that its first known explorers were women, a group of 12 of them who in 1867 answered a newspaper ad seeking courageous souls for the mission. Aside from that, the cave also offers plenty of natural beauty with such formations as the Hall of Giants and the Auditorium room, a naturally occurring theater.

      If you go:
Open every day 8:00 to dusk, except closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's. Tours depart approximately every half hour.
