Home to some 1500 Native Americans, the ancestors of today's Santa Clara Indians, from the Tenth Century until nearly the Seventeenth, the Puye Cliff Dwellings are awe-inspiring remnants of New Mexico's past. Three tours are offered: you can ride to the top of the Mesa and view the cliff dwellings there. If you are up for a more strenuous expedition, you can climb the cliff face to view the ruins there and you can also tour the Harvey House, the only one of the lodgings built by the Fred Harvey Company on reservation land. There is also a special combination price for all three tours, with a total time of about 2 hours. Special events are held throughout the year that may offer a chance to witness traditional Native American dances in costume, among other things.

      If you go:
Open every day except for Christmas and other special days, including the week before Easter - check in advance. Summer tours depart on the hour, with the last one at 5:00 p.m. The last winter tours depart at 2:00 p.m.
