• Homolovi State Park - Winslow, Arizona

Homolovi is Hopi for "Place of the Little Hills." It is one of the precolumbian sites along the Little Colorado River once occupied by the Hopi before they migrated to the Hopi mesas north of here. They still consider this to be a sacred site. Active archeological digs continue to unlock the mysteries of life at this village. Visitors to the state park can observe the digs, hike, picnic and camp.

Thanks for highlighting this unsung gem. We have camped here several times over the years and have always had a great experience. It is the only public campground along I-40 along the eastern stretch. The spaces are well-designed for both big rigs and tenters.
