Chances are you don't normally enjoy eating on an airplane, but this might be an exception. A retired Southwest Airlines 737 has been repurposed to serve as one portion of the Parachute Inn Restaurant. You get to sit in the same seats while dining that passengers once occupied while flying. Or if you prefer, you can dine in the attached building instead, and explore the airplane portion at your leisure. You can even sit in the cockpit and examine all the gizmos. The cuisine is frankly for those who go for the southern deep fried indulgence, but the experience of having a real meal on a plane might be worth a visit.

      If you go:
Open Friday for all three meals and Saturday for lunch and dinner. Open for breakfast and lunch Tuesday through Thursday. The airplane portion is not handicap accessible, though the other part of the restaurant is, and the airplane may not be open during very cold weather, so call ahead. The restaurant is across the street from Wings Of Honor, a military museum. And while you're in the area, be sure to go into downtown Walnut Ridge to see the Guitar Walk commemorating Rock and Roll Highway, and the commemoration of the two occasions when The Beatles landed at the airport where the Parachute Inn is located.
