Blackhawk is a 50 foot tall concrete statue that overlooks the Rock River. Designed by sculptor Lorado Taft, the statue is named after Chief Blackhawk but is made to be a tribute to all native Americans. The statue weighs about 100 tons, and is the 2nd largest statue of its type in the world!
If you go:
The area near the base of the statue provides an excellent view of the River Valley, which is a popular area for Bald Eagles. However, excellent views of the statue are available across the river on IL-2.
