Its proximity to Yellowstone, relative prosperity, scenic setting and cultural attractions (symphony, opera, orchestra and arts groups) mean Idaho Falls is frequently listed among America's 'best places to live'. Among the main attractions for the passing visitor are the historic downtown and the excellent Museum of Idaho, with its exhibits on nuclear energy (the city was the first to be lit by nuclear power) and Lewis and Clark.
If you go:
Don't miss the feature that gave the city its name, the Falls themselves, where the Snake River passes through the downtown 'Greenbelt' area, popular with walkers, joggers and cyclists alike.
