At the historic spot where General George Washington and his troops crossed the Delaware River on the night of Christmas 1776 to fight the pivotal battle of Trenton, you can tour period buildings including McKonkey's Ferry Inn, which served as a guardpost during the war and allegedly is where Washington and his aides dined before departing for their mission. Every Christmas, there is a reenactment of the iconic crossing by interpreters in period costume.
