The 16-mile section of Grand Loop from Canyon Village to Fishing Bridge travels alongside the Yellowstone River through beautiful Hayden Valley, a gently sweeping valley that is among the best places in the park to view the wildlife.
If you go:
Drive this road at any time and you're likely to see herds of bison, bald eagles and maybe a coyote or two. Make the same trip early morning or late afternoon and you could be lucky enough to spot bears, elk, moose or wolves. And even if the wildlife fails to make an appearance, you're still traveling through one of the most scenic places on earth.
