Interpreters in period costume demonstrate how crops were raised, as well as such period crafts as pottery, broom making and blacksmithing. Visitors can even assist with some of the tasks such as helping grind corn with a horse-powered grinder. The complex includes Walnut Hill, a detailed frontier village.
If you go:
Memorial Day and Independence Day are especially good times to visit because of the special festivities. During the summer, baseball games are played with the rules and uniforms of the Nineteenth Century.
