This striking Inukshuk
is just outside of St. Lewis on the coast of
Labrador in Canada. These artful piles of rocks
were originally inspired by the Inuit tradition
of placing rock structures to aid in the task
of hunting caribou and other forms of navigation
aids. The province of Newfoundland and Labrador
(abbreviated as NL) is almost twice the size
of Great Britain and would rank fourth in size
behind Alaska, Texas and California if it were
one of the United States.
